20th March:

When you find out that you are going to become a parent, you enter into an unwritten contract with your unborn child - a contract that commits you to loving them, caring for them, keeping them safe from harm and being there for them unconditionally.

In doing what he did to his daughter, Josef Frietzl breached every clause of that contract absolutely, and it is therefore impossible to say that his crimes can or even should be forgiven. Such heinous behaviour is a revulsion to anyone who has ever held a small baby in their arms and marvelled at the potential and possibilities within.
